Following the completion of the Ram Lalla ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ritual in Ayodhya on Monday, a sizable crowd of devotees flocked to the Ram Temple on Tuesday to offer prayers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the main rituals at the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya Ram Mandir , which was conducted amidst wild celebrations officiated by a small group of priests. Ram Mandir History
Originally constructed in the sixteenth century CE, the site was home to the Babri Masjid. Before it was besieged and destroyed in 1992, the mosque housed the idols of Rama and Sita in 1949. The disputed site will be granted to Hindus for the construction of a temple, while Muslims will be allocated land nearby for the construction of a mosque, according to a 2019 Supreme Court of India ruling. The court cited an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) report as proof that a non-Islamic structure may have existed beneath the now-demolished Babri Masjid.
In August 2020, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted the Bhumi Pujan, or groundbreaking ceremony, to officially start building the Ram Mandir.
