It was believed that no one could kill that asura except Shiva’s son, and the son’s age should also be 6 days. After getting the fani, Tadkasur started harassing and killing people everywhere. Seeing all this, the gods and sages prayed to Shiva to kill him. After listening to their prayers, 6-day-old Kartikeya was born from the Shwet Parvat Kund. Kartikeya killed the asura, but he was extremely saddened after getting the information about Shiva’s devotee. When Kartikeya understood this, Lord Vishnu allowed him to atone. Lord Vishnu suggested he establish a Shivalinga at the place where the asura was killed. In this way, later this temple became known as Stambheshwar Temple.
