Khajrana Ganesh Temple Indore

Khajrana Ganesh temple is a famed Hindu shrine located in the Khajrana neighbourhood of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, 5 kilometres from Indore Junction. It is a well-known temple in Indore and one of the must-see attractions on your Indore trip.

Lord Ganesh is honoured in the Khajrana Ganesh Temple. The Maratha queen Ahilyabai Holkar established this temple in 1735 after retrieving the idol of the deity Ganesha from a well where it had been concealed to keep it safe from the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Because of its history and religious beliefs, this temple is one of the most frequented in the city. According to numerous religious beliefs, whomever comes here and wishes for something will have their request granted within a short amount of time.

Since then, the temple has evolved from a modest hut to a massive temple with large inner and exterior sanctums. Lord Ganesh’s main idol is made of bricks, jaggery, limestone, mud, dirt, and water. The gate, outside and upper walls of the Garbhagriha are made of silver and depict many moods and celebrations. The deity’s eyes are composed of diamonds donated by an Indore industrialist. There are also shrines dedicated to several Hindu gods, such as Shanidev, Sai Baba, Bherav baba mandir, and Bholenath. The temple is currently under the authority of the DM of Indore.

The temple is well-known both in India and beyond. Donations of money, gold, diamonds, and other costly stones are made to the temple on a regular basis. The adjoining dargah of Nahar Sayed adds to this tourist destination’s religious ambience. This temple’s biggest festival is Vinayak Chaturthi, which is held grandly every year in August/September.
