From Dadar to Paradise

Mumbai, the nation’s financial hub and the setting of numerous Hollywood films, is a well-liked tourist destination with a wealth of historical and cultural attractions. A new viewing deck in Dadar is the most recent gem the city has added to its crown. In close proximity to Chaityabhoomi, the building spans over Dadar Beach and provides an unbroken, mesmerising view of the Arabian Sea and Bandra-Worli Sea Link. Continue reading to see why you should include it on your itinerary the next time you visit this vibrant city. It is one of the best locations to visit in Mumbai.

The Viewing Deck: Everything You Need to Know

On February 9th, 2022, the state’s environment minister, Mr. Aditya Thackeray, officially opened the viewing deck. The Maharashtra government has suggested renaming it Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Smriti in honour of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s wife because it is close to a Buddhist Chaitya and the location of his cremation. According to reports, the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) constructed the deck over a malfunctioning stormwater drain outfall as a tourist attraction. It covers a floor area of 1500 square metres and is cleverly placed 16 feet above the water to provide breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

The viewing deck’s dimensions are 24 metres long and 20 metres wide, and it can hold roughly 300 people at once. It was built with the intention of expanding open areas for Mumbai residents and strengthening the drain outfall for selfie- and photo-takers of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The deck contains ramps for the elderly and those with disabilities, as well as space for about 100 people (26 benches). The addition of decorative lights and vegetation enhances this building’s charm and transforms it into the ideal beach attraction.

The deck is open to visitors and residents of Mumbai at any time between 6 AM and 10 PM. The viewing terrace is the ideal location for socialising by the water in a picturesque and tranquil atmosphere. Additionally, the Maharashtra government plans to build 40 additional decks similar to these ones all across the city.

Shops Convenient to the Viewing Deck

Mumbai is a shopper’s paradise with a wide variety of independent shops, shopping centres, and upscale malls to discover. You can go to these locations for some retail therapy if you are staying in one of the hotels in Mumbai’s Dadar neighbourhood to be close to the viewing deck:
